Enjoy the Journey!

It's Jeanne here with Friday's post.  I love stretching my supplies and using them for purposes other than the original one, so today's card uses the Honeymoon Car, but not for a honeymoon!
The card is A2 in size.  My first step was to create the car.  I think the hardest part of this card was deciding what color to make the car! I cut all the car pieces from various colors of cardstock, then I used a pink marker to color in the heart on the license plate.
After assembling the car I decided it needed a windshield since I was not using the honeymooners inside.  To do this, I cut a piece of acetate roughly the size I needed, placed it over the back of the car, then drew a cut line with a sharpie.
I adhered it to the car by using snail adhesive on the back of  the car and laying the acetate on that.
I cut a rectangle from black cardstock using the second largest rectangle from the Nested Wacky Stitched Rectangle set.  To get the map the perfect size for centering, I drew a line using the inside of the rectangle as my template.  And by using the rectangle as a frame, I was able to pick just what I wanted showing on the map.  Wouldn't it be great to choose a map of the destination for someone going on a trip?
I wanted some interest in the background, so I stamped a tone-on-tone wood background on a panel the same size as the front and sponged the edges for a worn look.
I created the compass using various colors of cardstock and then I assembled the card.  The map panel and word are adhered directly to the card.  The car and compass are put on with dimensional foam dots for some depth.

This card was super fun to make and I had a difficult time choosing the word.  "Journey", "Explore", "Discover" or "Memories" would all work equally as well.

I hope I've inspired you to be creative!  See you next week.

Honeymoon!

Good Morning Scrapping Cottage Friends!

Hi it is Pam creating with you today! And I am continuing to share dies that are newly released. So today I am featuring two of the dies!

Design Steps:

 1.  Use an A2 black card base and cut a slightly smaller piece of pink card stock then glue to the front.  Cut a piece of DP dotted paper 3 7/8 x 2 and then layer onto black card stock.  Attach the blue ribbon and mount to the card front as shown.  Using the Cottage Cutz Nested Stitched Eyelet Rectangel Set (3rd largest) cut out a white retangle and mount onto black card stock
 2.  Using the Cottage Cutz Honeymoon Car die cut out all of the pieces.  I used pink, silver, blue, black, white and sparkle card stock.  Assemble the car and them pop dot it to the card front as shown below

I think this card is such fun especially with the kind of retro 50's looking papers! Hope you can give it a try!

Thanks for stopping by!

Blessings
Pam

A Love Story

Hi, Lois here today with a card using some of the new CottageCutz dies.  As you may know, there is another great release of new dies over in the online store. The Nested Shapes with 17 designs as well as a Wedding Release with 20 designs. Janet (CottageCutz's video artist) has put together a video showcasing all the new nested shapes dies. Just click on the photo below to be taken to the CottageCutz YouTube channel.

I'm showing off several of the new wedding dies  today.  I saw a fold-out card on Pinterest a couple of weeks ago that I thought I could create -- depicting a little love story.  The card I saw on Pinterest was a birthday card; mine is a wedding card, using the following CottageCutz dies:

Pair of Doves
Wedding Chapel
Garden Bride and Groom
Mr and Mrs with Hearts
Honeymoon Car

There are many panels of cardstock on my card:

White - 5 1/2" x 11 1/2", 2 3/4" x 4 1/4", 3 3/4" x 5", 3" x 4 1/2" (2), 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" (2)
Blue - 4" x 5 1/4", 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" (2), 2 1/2" x 4" (2)
Patterned Paper - 3 5/8" x 2 1/4", 2 7/8" x 1 1/2" (2), 2 1/8" x 1 1/4" (2)

Cut the various die-cut pieces from white, blue, gray, pink, and black cardstock, as shown.

Score the 5 1/2" x 11 1/2" piece of white cardstock at 1/4", 3 3/4", and 7 1/4".

Rotate the cardstock  and, with the 1/4" scored side at the top, place it at the 5/8" mark of your paper cutter and cut down to the last score line.  Cut out the 5/8" section, as shown.

Place a strip of 1/8" Scor-tape on one side of the 2 3/4" x 4 1/4" piece of white cardstock and adhere to the 1/4" section.  Trim the excess 1/4" strip at the top, as shown.

Adhere the various pieces of patterned paper to the remaining white panels and run a piece of narrow blue ribbon around the top of the patterned paper, adhering at the back.  Add some color to the die cuts using Copic markers to give some dimension and construct the die-cuts on the white panels. (As I was constructing the chapel, I decided that I needed a couple of yellow pieces for the windows.)  Then adhere the white panels to the blue panels.

Stamp the small sentiments to several of the panels and adhere to the card base.  Add some pearls throughout.

~ Honeymoon Car ~ (New die)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

Today, I am sharing a sneak peak of some new dies that will be released over the weekend in the online store. There are 20 new wedding dies and 17 fun new nesting shapes. Today I am showing the new Honeymoon Car die and I placed it inside a Wacky Stitched Circle Die. I also used the Love Phrase word die.

So let's get started with some details on how I created my card.

Step 1:  I started my card this week by choosing my card colors. Since this is a wedding card, I wanted the colors to be bright and fun. I decided on blushing bride, mint green, and rose red as the main card colors.
Rose Red card Base: 4 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Blushing Bride Layering panel: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Blushing Bride Designer Paper Panel: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
Step 2: I cut my wacky stitched circle in a shimmery vanilla cardstock. The Honeymoon Car is cut in the mint green along with the other card colors. The detail on the CottageCutz dies is always amazing and this new car is no exception. Plus, I love the stitching on this new die and we have other shapes coming with the same stitching.
Step 3: I started assembly of the card. At this point I wanted to stamp my sentiment. I am only going to use the words forever and always from my stamp. So I taped off the other words and used my stamp-a-ma-jig for placement. I didn't tape all the way to the top of the stamp. When I inked my stamp, I had the top part of stamp off the ink pad.
I placed my love word temporarily on my card just to see where I was going to place the sentiment. That way I don't have any interference from other cardstock and I get a good image.

Step 4: I adhered my honeymoon car image to the wacky stitched circle panel. Used dimensional adhesive to lift it off the circle panel. It always adds depth to your design. I love the balloons and tin cans that are part of this die. Just the way the bride and groom car gets decorated for their departure. So cute! Love this new die.
Step 5: Finished my card assembly. I used double sided tape for all the layers, multi medium matte for my Love word phrase.

That's my card for this week. The new dies are in the online store and for a limited time they are 25% off. Click here to go shopping.
